My Manifesto

My Manifesto

I want to put my creativity to the test, do something with it everyday and push myself to be more creative. I love helping people i care about and being able to help them through tough times. I'm caring and creative and I want to do something that i can use both everyday. I want to finish here at Sierra and move on to a four year and get my bachelors, the day I know i'm successful is when I become someone else mentor, when I go to work and realize I've gone to work everyday that week with a smile on my face.

Leader Interview

Leader photo 1

Shannon Jane Morgan

She does what shes loved doing the past twenty years plus, putting her creative talent to work fusing glass pendants and beads to put on necklaces and other jewelry. She also teaches 5 different classes were she teaches you how to make 5 different glass pieces, a pumpkin, beer glass, Garden Ornament, flower glass, and a paper weight. Shes also the founder of Girl Glass Studios witch is where all these classes are held.

What type of route did this leader take?

  • It was straightforward

    "It was straightforward."

  • It was windy

"It took a while to figure out."

  • It was circuitous

    "I tried everything."

Leader's Work Life

Shannon is not only a glass blower, but also teaches a classes on how to blow glass, So her everyday life is very busy and hard to get a hold of her during it. It only takes her around 30 minutes to make the smaller pendents, after that she has to fire them in a kiln to herded the glass . Shes either at home in her own personal glass blowing workshop or at the Girl Glass Studios preparing for a class or arranging some sort of an event. She teaches beginner to advance course and they very in size of students, short and long class periods, and price.

Leader's Noise

The first time I meant Shannon I could tell that art was her life and had been her life for a long time, she is very enthusiastic about art and being creative. She was a student just like all of us in this class with a little more direction than me, but she new what she wanted to do and didn't let other peoples doubt get to her. She was told by friends she'd never make a living off art, even though she was a great artist. She told me a story of when she new being an artist is what she wanted to be, so she was driving and actually passed a truck on the road with a sign that read "We exist to build great things" and after that she made her own version of it "I exist to create beautiful things", after this she said this I was inspired, she was so confident when saying it you could tell how passionate she was with her art.

Advice from my Leader

Shannon's definition of success is following your heart and doing everything you think is best ,so she didn't stress it enough to do what you think is right for yourself, no one knows you as good as yourself so don't doubt yourself. She told me to find my own inspiration like the story from above, to find my own reason to exist. After telling her about some of the things I struggle with she told to always keep getting back up, life's like a roller coaster it's got it's ups and downs but after every down there's always a way back up.

My Cold-Calls

My Cold-Calls

I get nervous when talking to people sometimes specially when I'm put on the spot, so when calling these successful people I start to studer and sleer my words. It helped to have a note pad to read what I wanted to say, instead of just winging it and making it seem like your just wasting their time. The first few times I called I got no answer and it seemed like a set back and that i wasn't going to get a hold of the person I wanted to interview, but you just got to stay persistent like applying for a job interview.

Before and After

Before my interview I thought that everything I was doing as been wrong and just putting me deeper and deeper into a whole. Although I still don't have a complete understanding of what I'm doing I know that I'm doing something right just by being enrolled in class, working a nice paying job and progressing through my life with keeping my goals in line to be achieved. Life's hard and is filled with ups and downs you just got to keep following the path your heart tell you to take and it will all work out in the end.
